GLISTeN – intraoperative imaging trial in colon cancer
CReST – Colorectal stent trial in acute large bowel obstruction from cancer

Damian Graduated from Leeds University in 1997, training general medicine and gastroenterology in Yorkshire hospitals before entering Radiology training in Leeds. He was awarded the Reginald G Reid Scholarship from the Royal College of Radiologists to undertake additional specialist training at University College Hospital London with Professor Steve Halligan and Stuart Taylor. He commenced his Consultant appointment as lead for Colorectal Radiology in Leeds in 2007, working at both Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital.
He is an active member of the Colorectal, Pelvic Floor, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Gastroenterology multidisciplinary teams in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and is currently the clinical lead for CT scanning in the department.
He is an active member of a number of organizations and has published in a number of areas of gastrointestinal imaging. He serves as a member of the Education committee for the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiologists. He also works as the Quality Assurance Lead for Radiology for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber and serves on the National Radiology committee for this.
Damian is an active researcher with a number of ongoing research projects and has been involved in guidelines on imaging inflammatory bowel disease and bowel preparation for colonic investigations. He also lectures widely in the UK and Europe on Gastrointestinal imaging. He is the organiser of the Northern School of CT Colonography course, based in Leeds, which teaches Radiologists and Radiographers skills to perform and interpret CT Colonography studies. He is also organizing a forthcoming European CT Colonography course in Leeds in 2014.
Damian’s interests involve watching and playing sport, spending time with family and friends and playing music, particularly the piano.
